Galatians 5:1, “What the Messiah has freed us for is freedom! Therefore, stand firm, and don’t let yourselves be tied up again to a yoke of slavery.”

Freedom is never easy … In every aspect of life, no matter if it is war, financial, health, or even spiritual, freedom is never easy to obtain and prolong. As a believer, whenever the precious gift of spiritual liberty is at stake, there is always resistance and opposition by our adversary to attempt to keep us chained in captivity and yoked to bondage. The Word of God proclaims, “your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Pet. 5:8). The apostle Peter warns us about the devil’s intentions, and how he wants to devour the believers, keeping us in bondage, and ultimately, kill and destroy every one of us (John 10:10). Today, just as it has always existed from the beginning (Ecc.1:9), spiritual warfare is very real and alive, especially with the believers, as the devil cunningly seeks to keep us in bondage and not remain in Yeshua’s freedom that His ultimate sacrifice provided for us.

As believers in Yeshua (Jesus) and empowered by the blessed Holy Spirit, we have to guard our spiritual freedom and at times engage in spiritual warfare against the devil and the powers of darkness to sustain our liberty through Him (Eph. 6). Of course, once we are born again or accept Yeshua as our Messiah (Rom. 10:13), we inherit eternal life and are liberated from the bondage of sin and death (Rom. 8:2). Certainly, if the Son sets free, we are free indeed (John 8:36).

Since this is the absolute case, then why is it that so many believers are living in bondage? Why is it that so many in the body of Christ are living in captivity? To anger, fear, depression, resentment, anxiety, mistrust, insecurities, alcohol, drugs, pornography, sexual immorality, and so forth and so on…With a plethora of churches in every town, deliverance ministries in many cities and online, prayer groups, devotional books, et cetera, why aren’t people living in true and lifelong freedom in Yeshua on this earth?

One of the primary reasons is that too many people are entangled in the yoke of bondage and strongholds that have not been repented of, purified, cleansed, refined, and set free from. How can we truly live at peace and walk in the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5) when we are bound in chains to these strongholds in our life? Brethren, it is one thing to be born again and another to be born again and become 100 percent delivered, healed, and living in freedom and liberty through Yeshua and the blessed Holy Spirit. In other words, once we are born again, the old life that we once lived is finished and done (John 19:30). We are a new creation in Messiah, who the Father sent to reconcile us to Himself (2 Cor. 5:17-18). With that being said, once a person truly receives Yeshua’s free gift of love, an immediate transformation occurs. However, there is still a spiritual purification journey and healing process that occurs so that we can live and remain in freedom and liberty with the convictions of the Word of God. Once we are saved in Messiah and our salvation is secured, the journey is similar to a baby being born, thus the saying, that a person has to be “born again” (John 3:3). Just as a baby needs milk as nourishment in order to grow into an adult, once we are saved, we also need milk, the Word of God, to nourish us in order to refine, purify, and mature into the believer He fervently desires us to become. It is written, “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that YHWH is gracious (1 Pet. 2:2).
