Five Prayers for Freedom

Freedom is never won by the sword alone; it is upheld on the knees of a praying people. Scripture urges us to lift up supplications and prayers for kings and all in authority, that we may lead quiet and peaceable lives in all godliness (1 Timothy 2:1-2) — for the liberty we treasure is a gift to be guarded in prayer, not merely in politics. Remember, my friends, the true freedom is the one Yeshua purchased: "if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:36). Every earthly liberty is a shadow of that greater deliverance, and every prayer for freedom should begin there — at the foot of the cross that broke the chains. So pray for your land and for the persecuted abroad, and do not grow weary in it. The prayers of the righteous still avail much (James 5:16). Keep watch, keep praying, and stay ready.
