The war over Hormuz must not replace the fight against a nuclear Iran - opinion

Hey Watchmen, Everybody's arguing about whether we should be fighting over the Strait of Hormuz or fighting to keep Iran from getting the bomb — like it's one or the other. My friends, that's a false choice, and it's exactly the kind of thing that happens when men try to manage a crisis with policy papers instead of wisdom. You can win the shipping lane and still lose the war if the centrifuges keep spinning in some mountain bunker nobody bombed. I've watched enough of these Middle East cycles to tell you: the urgent always crowds out the important. Hormuz is urgent. A nuclear Iran is existential. Don't let the loud thing make you forget the big thing. Scripture warned us that nations would keep scheming for their own gain even while judgment is bearing down on them — look at Nahum's word against Nineveh, a city that thought its walls and its waters made it untouchable right up until the flood came through the gates it trusted (Nahum 2:6). Empires always think their chokepoints and their fortifications are the whole game. Elohim has a different accounting. He's not impressed by a nation's tonnage of oil tankers or its centrifuge count — He's watching what's in the heart of the men running the show, in Tehran and in Washington both. So watch the headlines, but watch them rightly. Don't get so fixated on the tactical win — a secured strait, a calmed oil market — that you miss the strategic reality still building underneath it. Yah is not confused about who's really in charge here, even when our leaders are confused about their own priorities. Stay awake, stay in the Word, and keep your eyes on the horizon, not just the wave in front of you.
